What is bulk card grading?
Bulk grading is a lower per card price for a larger order. At CCA it is $8 per card when a submission has 10 or more cards.
Bulk is not a lighter grade. Every card on Bulk goes through the same authentication review, the same four subgrades (centering, corners, edges and surface), the same ultrasonically sealed, tamper-evident holder and the same public certification record with front and back scans. What you trade for the lower price is a longer estimated turnaround and less coverage included per card. You can mix Pokemon, other TCG and sports cards in one bulk order.
How much does a bulk order cost?
Cards × $8, plus any coverage above the included $100 per card, plus shipping. Ten cards are $80 in grading fees.
The calculator at the top of this page runs that math for any number of cards and shows the same order on every service level. Coverage is worked out for the whole order: the included amount is $100 times the number of cards, and if the total declared value is higher, the extra coverage costs 5% of the difference. Shipping to CCA is yours to arrange; return shipping is calculated at checkout from the number of cards and coverage. A card that cannot be graded is not charged the grading fee.
| Service level | Per card | Minimum | Estimated turnaround | Included coverage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bulk | $8 | 10 cards | 7–14 days | up to $100 per card |
| Standard | $10 | None | 5–10 days | up to $250 per card |
| Express | $25 | None | 3–5 days | up to $500 per card |
| Walk-Through | $75 | None | 24–48 hours | up to $1,500 per card |
Turnaround is an estimate in calendar days, counted from confirmed intake and excluding shipping. Coverage above the included amount is 5% of the additional declared value. Prices exclude shipping.
What do you get with bulk grading?
The same certification as any other service level.
- Authentication review and condition grading by a CCA grader
- Four published subgrades and an overall grade that weights surface the most
- Measured front and back centering, shown on the public cert
- An ultrasonically sealed, tamper-evident holder with a certification number
- A public certification record with front and back slab scans, searchable on the certificate lookup
- Coverage up to $100 per card, with more available at 5% of the added value
How the grade itself is decided is set out on the CCA grading standards page.
What if I have fewer than 10 cards?
Use Standard at $10 per card, which has no minimum. The submission form tells you how many more cards would unlock Bulk.
If you choose Bulk and add fewer than 10 cards, the form asks you to add more or switch to Standard. If you pick a pricier level with 10 or more cards, it offers a one click switch to Bulk and shows the saving after the change in included coverage. If a card turns out to be missing from the package when we receive it, the bulk price per card is kept for the rest of the order.
Is Bulk always the cheapest option?
Not when the cards are valuable. Bulk includes less coverage per card, so a high declared value can make Standard cheaper overall.
An example with the published rates: 20 cards with a total declared value of $4,000. On Bulk the grading is $160, the included coverage is $2,000 and the extra coverage adds $100, for $260 before shipping. On Standard the grading is $200 and $5,000 of coverage is included, so the total is $200. Enter your own numbers in the calculator: it marks the lowest estimate for your order.
How long does bulk grading take?
The Bulk window in the table above is an estimate in calendar days, counted from confirmed intake and excluding shipping both ways.
Intake is confirmed once the package is received and each card is checked against your submission. If you need cards back sooner, Standard, Express and Walk-Through have shorter estimated windows. You can follow each stage in your dashboard.
How should I prepare a bulk submission?
Choose the exact printing for every card, enter realistic raw values, and pack each card so it cannot move.
- Pull the cards you want graded and check centering and surface first; the centering calculator helps.
- Add each card from the card database so the label carries the right set, number and variant.
- Enter a declared value per card based on recent raw sales.
- Sleeve each card, place it in a semi rigid holder, and pack the stack between cardboard in a sturdy box with the packing slip.
