CCA Card Is Reopening: Card Grading You Can Verify

Updated October 2026. We first published this post on January 25, 2026, when we began redesigning our platform, to announce that CCA grading would be reopening. Submissions reopened on June 30, 2026, and we have since rewritten this post to show how we grade today. Prices, turnaround times and insurance below are current.

CCA Card has graded Pokémon, trading card game and sports cards for collectors since 2022. In January 2026 we began rebuilding our platform from the ground up, and we reopened submissions on it on June 30, 2026. We built the new platform around one idea: a grade should be something you can check. Every card we grade is scanned front and back, measured, graded by a person, sealed in our slab and given a public certificate that anyone can look up.

This post walks through exactly what happens to a card after it reaches us, what is on the slab, and what it costs.

What happens to every card we grade

Checked in card by card. When your package arrives we confirm every card on your submission is actually in the box. If anything is missing, we tell you right away and open a support ticket so it is on record.
Scanned at 300 DPI, front and back. Each card is scanned in the holder you sent it in. These intake scans are what we measure from, and they stay attached to the card's record.
Centering measured. The scan is straightened to the card's own cut edge, then every border is measured. A card sitting crooked in its toploader never costs you points. Our centering guide shows the measurements from the first 200+ cards graded on our new platform.
Graded by a person. A grader reviews the centering lines and grades corners, edges and surface by hand, with written notes on anything that held the card back.
Sealed and labeled. The card goes into our premium UV slab with a holographic security seal and a printed label.
Scanned again as a slab. The finished slab is scanned front and back. Those images are what you see on the certificate.
Revealed by you. Once your order is paid, you open your grades one card at a time with Grade Reveal in your dashboard.

The front label carries the year, game, card name, set and number, the grade with its descriptor, a barcode and a holographic CCA seal. The back label carries a holographic CCA panel, the cert number and a QR code that opens the card's certificate, so anyone holding the slab can confirm it in a few seconds.

Every slab has a public certificate

Enter any cert number at ccacard.com/cert and you will see the slab scans, the overall grade, all four subgrades, the grader's notes, the measured centering with its proof images, and how many copies of that card we have graded. A certificate becomes public once its order is paid.

How we grade

Every card gets four subgrades: centering, corners, edges and surface. Surface is weighted the heaviest, because scratches, print lines and dents are what collectors notice most. The overall grade cannot climb far above your lowest subgrade, so one strong area cannot hide a weak one. Centering is measured on both sides, with the front judged more strictly than the back.

What we grade

Trading card games: Pokémon (English and Japanese), One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana, Digimon, Flesh and Blood, Gundam, Star Wars and Riftbound.

Sports cards: baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, UFC, boxing, wrestling, golf, tennis, racing and women's basketball.

When you build a submission you search our card database of more than 400,000 cards, so set names, numbers and parallels are filled in for you. If a card is not listed yet, you can add it by hand.
